Being a Munich native, Mathias Engl proves, that one need not necessarily look abroad for soloists. Having returned from the U.S. in 1998 where he studied Jazz at the renowned University of North Texas, he has since been a steady contributor to the Munich Jazz scene. He was or is heard regularly with the Harald RüschenbaumJazz Orchestra, the Thomas Bendzko Bigband, as well as Gregor Bürger´s "Earforce". He served as sideman and soloist in the big bands of Dusko Goykovich and Al Porcino, and also in salsa and rockbands. In the field of commercial music he played with Hugo Strasser, the Serafin Showband and the Joe Williams Showband. Since January 2023 he is a regular member of the Högl Fun Band. He also performed regularly as member and soloist with the Unterbiberger Hofmusik, Matt Noack´s Secret Groove Service and the Klentze/Jannotta Project.
